Kids Clothes Week Preparations

After the last Kids Clothes Week in the fall, I had said that I would plan to get more involved in the next Kids Clothes Week, but I didn't realize it would come so soon! The Kids Clothes Week people added a Winter Kids Clothes Week Challenge and it is starting on Monday. When I first heard about it I wasn't sure I was ready to do another sewing marathon after all the sewing I did for Christmas, but over the last few weeks I have been cutting out fabrics and I now have accumulated quite a pile of things to sew next week.

I have cut out pieces for four long-sleeve shirts, two for each kid, and a fleece vest for the little guy. These will be quick sews on the serger.  The pirate fabric and star fabric (apparently no longer available) below are from The Fabric Fairy, from which I was lucky enough to win a $30 gift certificate a few months ago.

I also have cut out four pairs of pants, two for each kid.  The two for the little guy will be quick because they are only two pattern pieces each and will have faux flies.  the big kid's pants are going to be a little more time consuming though because they will have pockets, zippers, separate waistbands, etc.

The idea of Kids Clothes Week is to spend one hour a day during the week sewing.  I normally do not sew during the week because by the time I get home, get the kids in bed, get myself fed and spend a few minutes with hubby, I am tired.  Most of my sewing gets done during the weekend.  Next week, however, I will try to spend at least half an hour a night sewing.  I probably won't be able to take photos and blog as well, so I will do a wrap up at the end of the week and let you know how many of these projects I got done.

As an unrelated reminder, the Rhino Lovey Pattern Giveaway is still open - make sure to enter to win your own free copy of my newest pattern!
